How to gear toward survivability and holding enemy attention in co-op dungeon runs.

What a Tank Build Is Doing
In a 3-player co-op dungeon, a tank-oriented build is the one absorbing hits and holding enemy attention so your DPS and support players can work safely. Since Soulbound is classless, this comes entirely from your gear and ability choices, not a fixed class.
What to Prioritize
- Defensive stats and abilities over raw damage output
- Any ability or relic path that draws enemy attention or creates crowd control, since dungeon mobs are storm-spawned and can overwhelm a party quickly
- Gear that survives escalating boss phases rather than gear optimized for a quick solo clear
Where Tanking Matters Most
Given that dungeon runs feature procedurally-escalating boss phases and full bag-loss on death, a dedicated tank build has the most value in harder-tier dungeons and raid-scale encounters, less so in early solo runs where survivability needs are lower.
Framing note: Soulbound: Online is classless — there's no locked-in "class" to pick. Everything below is about what gear, abilities, and relics to prioritize to lean into this role; you can switch out of it anytime by changing gear. Specific ability and relic names aren't public yet, so this guide focuses on strategy rather than a fixed loadout — we'll add exact picks once Early Access is out on July 21, 2026.
