Soulbound: Online Dungeon & Boss Guide

How dungeon runs are structured, what to expect floor by floor, and the bosses confirmed so far.

Two Kinds of Dungeons

  • Beacon dungeons: multi-floor instanced arenas found in regions like Virelda, Everdune, and Farpoint. A countdown timer sets the pace and difficulty rises as you progress through floors.
  • Overworld dungeons: a simpler arena-style fight — for example, one located just north of Virelda — where you fight a boss immediately and claim chest rewards without floor-by-floor progression. These are useful early spots for farming basic materials and gear/ability power cores.

Dungeon Tiers

Dungeons are organized into tiers by difficulty, starting with Tier 1 (Easy) and increasing from there. Higher tiers bring tougher enemies and better rewards, alongside real risk — more on that below.

Typical Floor Structure

A standard beacon dungeon run tends to follow this rhythm:

  • Floor 4: a miniboss encounter, commonly Bulkatron
  • Floor 5: a Healing Oasis — a portal marked with a heart icon where you can heal to full before continuing
  • Final floor (often floor 8): the tier's boss fight, followed by a treasure chest and the green "Home" exit portal

In-dungeon portals are marked with icons: sword for enemy waves, heart for the Healing Oasis, fish for a fishing pool, skull for a boss, chest for a treasure room, and a green house/portal icon for the exit.

Risk & Extraction

Soulbound leans into roguelite risk: in Tier 2 dungeons and above, leaving the dungeon any way other than through a portal can count as a death and cost you your gear or items. Tier 1 dungeons and the Tutorial Island dungeons carry no such penalty, making them safer places to learn the rhythm of a run. Always use the Home Portal to exit safely once you've looted the chest.

Co-op & Downed Players

Playing with others helps you handle enemy waves and bosses, and if one party member is downed while teammates survive, they can be revived without the full penalty of a death.

Confirmed Bosses & Notable Enemies

Bulkatron

A recurring miniboss, typically appearing around floor 4 of a dungeon, just before the Healing Oasis. Only one Bulkatron spawns per floor, though multiple can be encountered across a run. A specific variant, Bulkatron Blue, appears in the Eastern Reach beacon dungeon and drops a Silver Chalice needed for a later quest.

Cactosaur

A boss that can randomly spawn near Everdune (Needlepoint and the Everdune cave system), including on the dedicated boss floor. Occasionally two Cactosaur spawn at once, forcing you to fight both together. A Hammer-type weapon is useful for stunning it. It isn't known to drop items directly.

Scrapclaw

One of the two Tutorial Island dungeons (alongside Bulkatron's dungeon). In Farpoint's 3-player dungeon, two Scrapclaw can spawn together on the final floor, making it a tougher spike than earlier floors.

Gear Tips Against Bosses

  • A Hammer weapon type helps stun Cactosaur-type bosses
  • Dodge-focused armor, crit/defense hybrid gear, and dedicated healing gear are all viable approaches depending on your build
  • Community-tracked ability picks for Everdune-area content include Gleam Twins, Chakram, Healing Pulse, Pyro, and Minigun, paired with relics like Health, Crit, Heavy Hit, Dodge, Gunslinger (for Gleam Twins builds), and Supporter (for healer builds)

Boss names, floor patterns, and specific ability/relic picks may be tuned once Early Access launches July 21, 2026 — we'll update this page as that happens.
