Best Beginner Build in Soulbound: Online

What to prioritize with your first gear loadout before you know the deeper systems.

Prioritize Survivability First

Early dungeon runs (Bulkatron and Scrapclaw) are designed as a gear-and-vendor tutorial. Before chasing damage, make sure your starting armor from the Gear Vendor is fully equipped — going in under-geared is a bigger risk early than going in under-leveled on damage.

Lean on One Weapon Archetype at a Time

With multiple weapon archetypes and 10+ ability types available, trying to sample everything at once will spread your gold thin. Pick one weapon type that feels comfortable in the tutorial dungeons and commit to gearing it before branching out.

Keep Some Gold in Reserve

Tutorial dungeon clears grant gold via achievements. Rather than spending all of it on the first upgrade you see, hold some back for whatever gear check comes right after you arrive in Virelda.

Don't Worry About "Wasting" Your First Build

Because builds are entirely gear-based with instant respec, there's no permanent choice to regret here. Use your first build to learn the combat feel, then adjust once you've seen a full dungeon run.

Framing note: Soulbound: Online is classless — there's no locked-in "class" to pick. Everything below is about what gear, abilities, and relics to prioritize to lean into this role; you can switch out of it anytime by changing gear. Specific ability and relic names aren't public yet, so this guide focuses on strategy rather than a fixed loadout — we'll add exact picks once Early Access is out on July 21, 2026.
